Review: His Majesty's Secret

When his half brother Austin declares himself King, Crown Prince Dalmas of Ashdowne is forced to flee his castle or be put to death for treason. On his way to find proof Austin's claims are false, he prevents the imminent sexual assault of a beautiful young woman, killing Castle Guards in the process.

Fleeing a forced betrothal, Ravenna LoPresti of Wythmail finds herself a reluctant companion to sexy, lustful Dalmas on his journey to find the truth and win back his rightful Crown. While Austin and his Guards chase Dalmas, a Royal Proclamation declares a price on Ravenna's head as well.
Dalmas and Ravenna awaken each other's sexual desires, but will lust and growing love keep them together, even if they find the proof Dalmas needs? Or will Ravenna be forced to return to her kingdom and marry the Count, or be put to death for a murder she didn't commit?

Holy Cow! Where to begin?  This book was a sexy, awesome, thrilling, romantic, adventure from the first page.  It jumps right into the action and never stops. The love story of Ravenna and Dalmas is one of the best I have read in a while.  Two people destined to be together, who have to overcome the most incredible odds. All set in a world that is parallel to our modern day one.  I was drawn in from page one and had a hard time putting it down.

There is something for everyone in this book. Mysteries that at times were confusing and I worried may never get solved. Action and fighting, even murder. Steamy hot sex scenes and tender, passionate love scenes. There were bitchy exes, and nice people who really wanted to see Ravenna and Dalmas have their HEA.  The trials and tribulations they had to go through, only strengthened their bond and helped the characters grow.  This was no magical fairy tale though.  The characters all had their flaws and at times Dalmas did not seem like that much of a hero. To me, that made the book even better.  The hero and heroine each had a very believable set of flaws, and everything they went through to be together made this a true love story. Each of the supporting characters had quirks and qualities that added another dimension to the story.  I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know them all.

So, in case you didn't already guess, I really, really liked this book!  I already had my appetite whet, when I read my first Carolyn Rosewood story and I was more than ready for a full length book.  This definitely fit the bill. The lucky person who wins a copy of this book from yesterday's blog post is in for a treat.
