Review: Shuffle up and Deal

This was a really cute story. With an emotionally damaged hero and heroine there was plenty to keep my interest engaged throughout.  In the beginning, I was a little mad at Izzy because she was sort of a doormat. I just wanted to throttle that sleazy on again off again boyfriend of hers. I just couldn't believe how he treated her. And don’t get me started on the step-mom. She was a classic trophy, wife with a very passive aggressive way of putting Izzy down. She was a master at wrapping criticism in compliments. But it just made the story that much more interesting to read. I do like it when a story draws me in and the characters feel like friends. If Iz was a friend of mine I would have bitch slapped some sense into her *g*

Overall the story was a journey and you really got to see Izzy really grow into her own skin and finally get to do something she has wanted for a long time. For me the story was best when she was finally doing things for herself instead of trying to make everyone else happy. Nick also went through some major character growth. With a cast of secondary characters who enriched the story and plenty of laughs to keep you entertained, this book is a definite recommendation. I give it 4 stars
