Birthday Bash day 6: Amy Interviews Me!

OK welcome to day 6. Today for a twist, I am in the hot seat. After all the times I have interviewed authors, the questions are being directed at me. And man are they tough! Comment below for a chance to win today's giveaway. (leave email)

Hey guys today I have the pleasure of grilling….I mean interviewing the lovely owner of this blog site, Ursula! Before we begin I just want you all to know that Ursula is such a sweet lady and a good friend. We have marathon phone conversations (mostly about books) that can last hours. She’s always in the know about our favorite authors and keeping me informed on release dates and blogs I should read. She is a great book friend to have because even if we don’t feel the same way about a book we can have a great discussion about the book and characters. The best thing about Ursula has got to be when I want to borrow a book from her I get within minutes because she understands my “gotta read it right now syndrome

1.      When did you start reading?

I can still remember the I See Sam books we had to read in Kindergarten. I read every single one and got way far ahead of the class. My first reading for pleasure memory is checking out a Nancy Drew book from the library when I was in 2nd grade  and spending a whole rainy Saturday reading (and finishing) it. When I was in 3rd grade my Mom and Dad got me a hard cover copy of The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. By the time I started 5th grade it was Sweet Valley High and then I was onto Harlequins. My Mom and Dad were both avid readers so I would pick up their books when I didn't have anything else to read. I remember reading Congo back when it was first published. Yes, that was 1980 and yes I was only 8. My parents never censored my reading and I don’t censor my kids.

2.      How did you get into blogging about book?

I honestly don’t remember. I was bored and decided to start posting about books and why I liked them or didn’t.

3.      I know you do some beta reading and editing how did you get started in that?

I was a member of a private Facebook reading group and there was a general call for beta-readers.  I ended up being matched with a writer who was awesome and loved my habit of editing while I beta read. I can be a little anal about things. *blushes* Then she asked me to edit a book she was going to self-publish and the rest is history. I now have four books to my editing credit.

4.      Have you ever thought of writing your own book?

Umm, yeah, I think about it all the time.

5.      What do you love the most about reading a good book?

I love getting lost in the world that is being written about. I love it when the book grabs you and makes you forget where you are and what’s going on. I love it when something dramatic and earth shattering happens and the author is so good at describing or depicting that event that my chest aches and I can literally feel a pain in my heart. I love it when an author is so awesome that I want to live in their book. I love when a book so affects me that when I stop reading it, I am just overwhelmed and can’t get over it.

Now for the rapid fire questions!!

6.      Favorite author?
Crap. I don’t know if I could pick just one. Let’s just say at this moment in time it is Kristen Ashley
Ask me again in 2 months and that answer will change.
7.      Favorite hero?
Uh, again, really!? Just ONE!? OK, again, it depends on how I am feeling and what I am reading. As you can tell, I am a total book slut. So yeah I am a Hero slut too. If you had asked me this question 3 months ago I would have said Alexei Markov from Found in Bliss (Nights in Bliss, Colorado #5)
but I think today I will say Hawk Delgado from Mystery Man
8.      Favorite Heroine?
OK this is easy. My all-time favorite heroine is Eve Dallas.
She kicks ass and takes names then goes home to an equally kick ass master of the universe with a hot Irish accent.
9.      Favorite series?
Wow. You are determined to make me have an aneurysm aren't you, Amy? Do you have any idea how many books I read!? Ok, favorite all-time series:
Steele Street by Tara Janzen. These books have it all: sweet cars, serious guns, kick ass chicks, bad ass guys, Drug lord good guys, secret missions, double agents, spies, psychotic doctors, so much awesome bad-assery that I can’t even describe!
10.  Favorite book?
OMG! You seriously want me to pick ONE book. Just one!? I read over 260 last year alone! Ok, final answer: Her Gentle Giant by Heather Rainier. And let's be honest, I LOVE all her books and I also adore Heather. She is a wonderful, sweet and down to earth lady. I am blessed to have had the chance to meet her. I admit at first I was worried because you always have this ideal in mind when it comes to your favorite authors and I am happy to say in this instance I was NOt disappointed. :)

11.  Who is your favorite guest reviewer? LOL
Uh…hmm…that’s a tough one…I have had sooo MANY…Oh wait. I know! It’s Amy. Wait… isn't that you?

Thanks for stopping by and getting to know Ursula! Leave a comment wishing the Birthday Girl a happy one and you’ll be entered to win a $5.00 Amazon gift card. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

  2. Really?? You had to pick just one??? On all those??? I never could have chosen.... and yes, I admit. I'm a hero slut as well. Alexi? Oh definately! Eli? Adam? Ash? That's just keeping it in the "heather" romance, go to any other author or the paranormal side? Too long to list!!! Knew there was a reason we clicked! lol

  4. Happy Birthday Ursula! I really enjoyed seeing someone interview you and you have some really terrific books that you enjoy. I have most of Tara Janzen's books on paperback and they are good. I think though i am missing some and need to go back and figure out which ones i need to get and read. I have read so many books since i got my Nook last year that i think im reading WAY more now then i ever did with my paperbacks and have found a ton of new authors (well new to me anyway) that i ADORE including the lovely Heather Rainer. Hope you have a great month and all your b-day wishes come true! ;)

    2. Thanks for the birthday wishes. I agree with you, I have found since I went e-reader that my reading volume has increased and also I am really branching out. E-books have opened up a whole new world for me and I have discovered so many new authors both through friends and the internet! Technology is such a wonderful thing!

    1. Peggy, yours is ONE day before mine. My official day is the 20th. But I love the idea of celebrating all month long. And what better way than to give all sorts of prizes to my friends. (I have to admit though, I am super jealous that I can't win some of these prizes *g*)
