Review & Giveaway: Eversea

An orphaned small-town southern girl, burdened by responsibility and stuck in time.

A Hollywood A-list mega-star, on the run from his latest scandal and with everything to lose.

A chance encounter that leads to an unlikely arrangement and epic love affair that will change them both forever.

When his co-star and real-life girlfriend is caught cheating on him with her married and much older director, A-list hottie, Jack Eversea, finds himself in sleepy Butler Cove, South Carolina. Jack hopes the sultry southern heat in this tiny coastal Lowcountry town will hide him not only from the tabloids and his cheating girlfriend, but his increasingly vapid life and the people who run it.  He doesn’t count on meeting Keri Ann Butler.

Keri Ann has relied on herself so long, dealing with her family’s death and the responsibilities of keeping up her family’s historic mansion, that boys and certainly the meager offering of eligible boys in Butler Cove, have never figured into her equation.  But fate has other plans.  Suddenly face to face with the man who played the movie role of her favorite fictional character, Jack has Keri Ann yearning for everything she has previously avoided ... and Jack must decide whether this funny, sassy girl is worth changing his life for, before his mistakes catch up to him.

REVIEW:
4 STARS

Well, one of the many reasons I love this book is it takes place in the South. Being a southern girl born and bred, I got a kick out of the mention of my Clemson Tigers and that other team who shall not be named *G* For me, this was just one of many things to enjoy about this book. Mentions of small town southern life aside, the story was engaging and also plucked the heart strings. The story held my interest from page one. I read it all in one sititng staying up way too late for my own good as usual. I love it when I can just fall into a story like that.

Now let's talk about characters. The heroine for me was a win.I mean when your heroine is a waitress like me, you know I am gonna love it. (I don't waitress in a small town per say but it is a family restaurant  not one of those monster corporate restaurants.) I felt like I could connect with the characters there. The older, fatherly cook and the wise cracking and star obsessed bestie all rang true for me.

As far as the hero, well, I was really rooting for Jack and Keri Ann, but there were times Jack just frustrated me.  I am left uncertain about him. I get that there were outside factions pushing and pulling him and He did make a decent decision based on the info he had but, I still found myself wanting to yell at my Kindle and tell him to pull his head out of his ass.The chemistry between them was intense and I am frankly astonished that they held out as long as they did. My heart was breaking for Keri Ann and as I turned the last page I was shocked to find myself at the end.

WHAT!? Yes this book has a To Be Continued ending. I am not bashing the author. Obviously she had a lot of story to tell and I am glad she didn't rush it and wrap it all up in a nice tidy package. But come on, you all know me. I am all about instant gratification! I want to know what happens next! How freaking long am I gonna have to wait to find out if there is a HEA and who gets it! When does the next book come out, Ms. Boyd?
